XChat Takes Aim at Signal With Built-in Grok and Per-Message Keys
nima_owji · x · 2026-10-11
XChat is positioning itself directly against Signal, pitching "private AND where everyone already is."
What it already has: end-to-end encrypted chats, no phone number required, your existing X followers, and Grok built right in.
The next upgrade will bring a new key for every single message — crack one message and you still can't read the rest. The author argues Signal is private, while XChat wants to be private and sit on the social graph users already have.
