ManimGX: an animation engine built for agents
ManimGX is a new open-source project positioning itself as "the animation engine for agents," letting coding agents generate math/3D animation videos directly:
- Performance: claims 90× speedup over ManimCE, with a Rust + wgpu GPU-rendering core
- Compatibility: keeps Manim's Python API; installs via a single pip command with no system dependencies
- Agent-first design: the repo ships an AGENTS.md and a skills folder; the author demos pasting a docs link into a coding agent to generate and open a 3D solar-system animation
- Open source (MIT and other licenses), 80 stars on GitHub at launch
The framing: we spent 40 years building GUIs for humans — now we build APIs for agents.
