Veteran engineer: today's coding agents outperform many developers I've worked with
gethackteam · x · 2026-10-11
Quoting poteto's thread: codebases have always contained slop, and outside mission-critical software code rarely needs to be perfect — SWE constantly evolves with user tastes and shifting mental models. Early skepticism (circa 2024) that agents would write production code overlooked how much human slop already existed. gethackteam adds he's seen so much copy-pasted, lazy code that today's coding agents beat many developers he's worked with.
