Authors First, a new book-to-screen studio, emerged from stealth this week with over $10 million in funding and is adapting novelist Conn Iggulden's Genghis into a six-episode series made mostly with AI tools.
- The author was deeply involved in screenplay, casting, storyboards, editing, and rough cuts, per Forbes
- Every episode starts with a human-written script and 500-600 hand-drawn storyboards before any generation
- Team of 30-35 people from film and TV; production runs about $4,000 per finished minute
- Limits remain: a synthetic voice kept missing the stress on "I" in one line
The poster also suggests fiction writers storyboard one favorite scene of their own to learn which details carry a scene on screen.
