Google Cloud launches Gemini Agent, a universal work agent with persistent memory and sub-agents
alexmacgregor__ · x · 2026-10-11
At its Gemini at Work event—where Sundar Pichai joined 700+ customers at NASA Hangar One—Google Cloud introduced Gemini Agent, a single universal agent for work. From one prompt box it handles questions, knowledge work, image/media creation, and code, connecting to personal workflows, systems of record, and enterprise controls. It runs in the cloud with persistent memory and context across devices, spawns sub-agents for multi-step tasks, and can act as a coworker agent with its own identity, auto-selecting models to balance quality and cost.
