Synthesia launches Roleplay Sessions to let managers practice tough talks with AI avatars

Synthesia, the British AI startup best known for AI video production, released Roleplay Sessions last week: a product that lets managers practice difficult workplace conversations with an AI avatar, such as telling an employee they didn't get a promotion.
- How it works: CTO Peter Hill says the avatar pushes back and probes for deeper answers, users can repeat questions or rephrase, and feedback is instant — all in a judgment-free space.
- Why it matters: Head of People Laura Gonzalez argues it helps retain managers by easing the hardest parts of the job, and helps employees by improving their managers.
- Beyond management: The platform also fits sales training, customer feedback practice, and interactive training scenarios.
