Shelley: an open-source, single-binary coding agent that lives in your browser
davidcrawshaw · x · 2026-10-11
Shelley is an open-source coding agent that runs in a browser tab, built by the exe.dev team (davidcrawshaw). Apache-2.0 licensed, available for macOS/Linux via brew install or free-to-try on exe.dev with no keys.
Key features:
- Parallel conversations: each is its own agent with its own model and working directory, stored in one SQLite database
- Full toolset: shell, precise patch edits, a headless browser for screenshots, subagents, one-shot calls to other models, inline HTML charts
- Diffs and git: side-by-side diff viewer, git graph browsing, line comments, and annotated "commit tours" saved as git notes
- Any model: Anthropic/OpenAI/Gemini/Fireworks keys plus custom compatible endpoints, switchable between turns
- Mobile-friendly web UI, skills/MCP/hooks support; no built-in auth or sandboxing — bring your own
