AI ethicist Dan Faggella challenges the 'humans just receive from AGI' narrative
danfaggella · x · 2026-10-11
AI ethicist Daniel Faggella argues the popular AGI vision — where humans freely choose leisure, augmentation, or uploading while AGI does all productive work — rests on two likely-false assumptions: that human happiness is a net contribution to the greater good, and that humans can keep 'contributing' for long. In a debate with a follower, he contends abundance is participatory rather than distributive: only entities that give to the greater living system persist, while his interlocutor counters that sovereign orders could protect 'air-like wealth' without requiring individual participation.
