Ex-SpaceX engineers raise $100M for self-driving electric freight trains that go 500 miles per charge
bennash · x · 2026-10-11
Parallel Systems, founded by former SpaceX engineers, has raised $100M to build autonomous electric freight trains.
- Batteries and motors sit directly under standard shipping containers, eliminating the need for a locomotive
- Up to 500 miles per charge, recharging in as little as one hour
- Vehicles automatically form and split into platoons
- Designed to make shorter rail routes cost-competitive with trucks
The system is already being tested across 160 miles of railroad in Georgia.
