Google adds AI-assisted Code Comprehension round with Gemini to interviews
sh_reya · x · 2026-10-11
Google has updated its interview process with a new "Code Comprehension" round: candidates drop into a 200-500 line codebase with Gemini available, tested on reading others' code, debugging independently before reaching for AI, and catching when Gemini is wrong. Some propose a better alternative — having candidates screen-share and extend a personal project live to assess curiosity, prioritization, and real agent workflows.
