Droidline: open-source MCP server lets AI agents control a real Android phone, no ADB or root
KnifeLemon_ · reddit · 2026-10-10
The author open-sourced Droidline (free, MIT): an MCP server that gives AI agents control of a real Android phone over Wi-Fi. Pair once via QR code with a small on-device app (Android 9+); no ADB, no root.
- All 65 commands are exposed as MCP tools. For "turn on dark mode," the agent can call dump() to read the screen, intent() to open display settings, and touch("text", "Dark mode") to flip the switch
- Ships as a .mcpb for Claude Desktop (Windows/macOS/Linux) and is listed in the MCP Registry
- Limits: can't unlock a locked phone; on screens without accessibility elements it falls back to screenshots, OCR and coordinates
