ChatGPT responses vanish right after generation; reproduced on Windows, iOS and Android
echoabenteuer · reddit · 2026-10-11
A user reports a serious ChatGPT bug: entire GPT-5.6 Sol and GPT-5.5 responses disappear immediately after generation completes, leaving only the user's prompt visible. It reproduces on Windows Chrome, iOS, and Android, and in brand-new conversations — ruling out long-history issues.
Technical evidence: via Chrome DevTools, the POST /backend-api/f/conversation request returns 200 OK, streams text/event-stream correctly, and the EventStream reaches complete — content is delivered to the browser and then vanishes, suggesting a problem in response finalization, conversation persistence, or frontend state sync. Root cause unknown.
GPT-6 behaves differently: responses generally persist, but long detailed prompts trigger inconsistency — skipped requirements, oddly short replies, premature endings. Similar reports on the OpenAI community forum predate the GPT-6 rollout, so the issues likely aren't caused by it.
