Nadella Essay: Treat Models as Insider Risks in the Superintelligence Era
sudoraohacker · x · 2026-10-10
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella published "Models as Insider Risks in the Super Intelligence Era." Amplifier Justin Bullock expands on it: unlike traditional software, model behavior can't be traced to a code path, so systems should separate the model from its orchestration harness and action space, and externalize controls and safeguards.
Principles of observability:
- Model diversity: no single model should be a sole dependency or verify its own work
- Observe everything: every meaningful action must leave tamper-proof, human-readable evidence
- Verifiability: continuously test failures, attacks, edge cases and changes, not just successes
- Independent controls: orgs must independently determine what a model can do
The "insider risk" framing applied to frontier models is the notable hook.
