Bend's author: a ~100k-token kernel designed so AI agents can rewrite the compiler
MikePFrank · x · 2026-10-10
Victor Taelin explains an under-explained part of Bend's thesis: the language was designed to scale with AI. His goal is for Bend to start writing itself — agents and laws improving the compiler daily at an unprecedented rate, with humans only writing laws. Not possible yet since V1 is TypeScript (which has no laws), which is partly why he kept the kernel tiny (100k tokens). Bend 2.1 will be the first use-case of Bend used the Bend way.
