Ubuntu Ships Official Desktop ISO Images for RISC-V
fork-bomber · hn · 2026-10-10
Ubuntu now offers official desktop ISO images for the RISC-V architecture, letting users install a full desktop OS directly on RISC-V hardware. This marks a notable step for the open ISA ecosystem, which previously mostly had server builds or self-rolled images. Official mainstream distro support should significantly lower the barrier for development and testing on RISC-V devices.
