Agent Standup: a VS Code extension that shows Claude Code sub-agents as a video call
stickygoose · reddit · 2026-10-10
A free, open-source (MIT) VS Code extension called Agent Standup renders a Claude Code session as a live video call, with each sub-agent appearing as a character who joins on task assignment and leaves after reporting back—solving the wall-of-logs problem when tracking spawned sub-agents.
Features: reads Claude Code's session files in /.claude/projects for live tracking; a shared "screen" shows real command output, edit diffs, and files read (failing tests in red); plus a call tree, file-change recap, session replay, and optional voices. Also works standalone as a node server with the Claude app or with other editors.
The whole project was built in one long Claude Code conversation over two days: the Node server parsing JSONL transcripts (including sub-agent files and tool results), browser front end, SVG characters, extension wrapper, headless-browser UI testing, packaging, and landing page. The author handled the idea, product decisions, and real-world testing. Debug example: transparent avatars traced to duplicate SVG gradient IDs. Install via .vsix download; Mac best tested, Windows should work.
