Cloudflare launches contest to build the next Git platform for thousands of concurrent coding agents

Cloudflare has opened a contest challenging developers to build the next GitHub — a Git platform designed for hundreds or thousands of agents working concurrently on the same codebase.
- Why now: GitHub was built for human workflows (repos, branches, PRs), but agents increasingly write, review, and maintain code at scale, raising unsolved questions: how agents coordinate, resolve conflicting changes, review output, and track not just what changed but why.
- The foundation: Cloudflare's Artifacts, a programmable versioned filesystem that speaks Git and scales to millions of repos, launched earlier this year — it handles programmatic repo creation/forking and versioned storage for code and agent context.
- The contest focus: the layer above Artifacts — agent coordination, change review and merging, and developer experience for the agent era.
Submissions are open via the Cloudflare blog post.
