Atomic Machines launches Matter Compiler, an AI-native fab for micro-machines no chip fab could build

Atomic Machines unveiled the Matter Compiler, an AI-native fab that turns digital designs into working micro-machines and learns from every build. The company argues semiconductors only ever mastered one micro-machine—the transistor—while MEMS devices were one-off improvisations constrained by flat geometries and limited materials, with each product requiring its own process. The Matter Compiler is designed from first principles to cover motion, optics, fluidics, thermal, magnetic and acoustic domains in the materials and 3D geometries physics requires. The effort, promoted by Jeff Holden and linked to Neal Stephenson, is hiring and was covered by NYT.
