- Archon Robotics, founded by the UniAD autonomous-driving team, unveiled progress on its Whole-Body Intelligence (WBI) framework: robots bending to pick up objects, navigating stairs, clearing tables, operating dishwashers, and organizing refrigerators in real-world settings.
- Technical approach: a Humanoid Foundation Model combining large-scale human whole-body data pretraining, context-aware behavioral foundation models, and efficient post-training on real-robot data.
- The 20-person founding team spans HKU, Tsinghua, and SJTU: founder Hongyang Li led UniAD (CVPR 2023 Best Paper), CEO Tianyu Li was a core architect of Huawei's ADS 4.0, and Li Chen is UniAD's first author. The company aims to be the "OpenAI for humanoid robotics" in China.
