Follow-up to the BitNet thread with the official repo: microsoft/BitNet now has 40.4K stars and 3.7K forks under MIT license.
Recent updates from the README:
- July 23, 2026: VibeASR.cpp, a real-time multilingual ASR engine on CPU using BitNet I2S quantization, achieving RTF < 1 on x86 (AVX2) and ARM (NEON)
- July 20, 2026: BitNet-embedding-0.6B and 270M, the first 1-bit embedding models
The repo ships inference scripts (client and server), GPU support, and preset kernels for immediate use.
