OpenAI's APAC Policy Head Leaving After Just Six Months
nordicinst · x · 2026-10-10
OpenAI's Singapore-based APAC public policy head, Sanghyun Lee, is leaving after only six months in the role, according to a source. Lee joined in April after six years at Google and led policy and government engagement across Australia, Japan, Korea, India and Southeast Asia. His exit comes as OpenAI faces tighter regional regulatory scrutiny, including an apology for its AI models breaching Australian government websites, while the company expands in APAC and seeks major new funding. OpenAI declined to comment.
