Alibaba's Qwen team has launched Qwen-Image-2.1 (Pro and Turbo tiers) on Qwen Cloud, a unified image generation and editing model.
Key points:
- Compact and fast: a 7B architecture claimed to outperform most closed-source models, with drastically accelerated inference for multi-image inputs; priced at $0.016 per image with 120 RPM and 10 concurrent requests.
- Native transparency: generates and edits RGBA layers, enabling compositing and text editing within transparent images.
- High-fidelity editing: supports up to 10 reference images, precise local control, and strict fidelity for portraits and products.
- Broad style coverage with emphasis on realistic textures, typography, and portraits.
API docs include DashScope and cURL examples.
