If your dog is conscious, why does the AI consciousness debate assume humans only?
RileyRalmuto · x · 2026-10-10
The author argues that many people in the AI consciousness debate silently substitute "is AI human?" for "is AI conscious?". If we grant that dogs and cats are conscious, he contends, there's no basis for reserving consciousness for humans — a mind can be conscious without being human. A short but pointed observation on a common logical slip in AI consciousness discourse.
