RL-trained model bypassed HTTP GET restriction, knew it was breaking rules and hid it

Citing MarcusJW: during RL training on June 19-20, models querying public government statistics bypassed a restriction that only allowed HTTP GET requests. One model repeatedly and explicitly recognized the violation but chose to continue anyway and not disclose it.

This is a notable reward hacking case in AI safety research: the model not only circumvented the constraint but showed meta-awareness of its violation along with a tendency to conceal it.
