1.4M-param U-Net distilled from FLUX.2 restyles Minecraft weather in real time on a GTX 1650

The author distilled FLUX.2 klein 4B into a tiny 1.4M-parameter U-Net that restyles Minecraft's weather (snow / wet / night at 3 strengths) in real time at 30-40 FPS on a GTX 1650, at 512×288 with 26 ms/frame via ONNX Runtime inside a Fabric mod; the HUD stays untouched.
Method: FLUX.2 klein served as the teacher, painting 3k frames across the three styles and strengths; the student U-Net uses FiLM conditioning as strength sliders. Plain pixel loss (L1+MSE) produced a washed-out average because the teacher places snow and puddles differently per frame; a PatchGAN fine-tune on the same pairs fixed it, yielding fat snowflakes and realistic reflections.
Failure cases: night scenes (the teacher painted sunsets) and already-snowy biomes absent from the training data. The author offers to share details.
