Claude Code wipes mid-run progress on quota exhaustion, says Anthropic's 5-hour limit is the cause
willcb · x · 2026-10-10
After @teortaxesTex criticized Claude Code for wiping all mid-run progress on quota exhaustion, willcb explains it's just subagents stalling out half-finished — an artifact of Anthropic's 5-hour limit designed for more predictable max utilization. Workarounds: rotate accounts or wait; trace logs remain resumable. He adds that the brief overage-continuation policy suits primary agents but causes weird start-stop loops for subagents. DeepSeek, with no quotas, never exhibits this.
