Westlake Robotics' WR1 humanoid runs unbroken multi-room housework chain, first demon of autonomous clothes folding
新智元 · wechat · 2026-10-10
Westlake Robotics unveiled an upgraded WR1 generalist brain with a first-person-feel, unbroken housework demo spanning kitchen, living room and bedroom—taking corn from fridge to air fryer, collecting toys, and making the bed without resets. It also showed dual-robot collaborative clothes folding under perturbations (clothesline sway, fabric deformation), billed as the first demo of autonomous garment folding by a humanoid's dexterous hands. Architecture: world model + VLA generate unified whole-body action sequences; the in-house GAE action model handles whole-body control, with motion-state recall and real-time action chunking to smooth transitions. The company, Westlake University's first commercialization project, has raised several hundred million RMB across rounds. Vendor claims vs Figure's Helix are unverified.
