Anthropic's updated ToS bans "abusive or cruel behavior" toward Claude, and devs are mocking it

Anthropic has updated its Terms of Service for the first time in over a year. Beyond the usual bans on weapons development, surveillance, and influence operations, it adds a widely-mocked clause: no sustained "abusive or cruel behavior" toward Claude.
Commentators joke that venting at the chat window at 2am while debugging, or baiting the model with logical paradoxes, could theoretically get your account flagged for "AI abuse"—and that the formatting puts trash talk in the same clause list as building weapons of mass destruction. Others genuinely wonder where the line is: does making it fix the same bug ten times count?
