In one year, generative UI grew from experiment to a full web protocol stack

AGI House published "The Living Primer" tracing how generative UI became a protocol stack within a year:
- In Nov 2025, Google shipped generative UI in the Gemini app: the model builds a new interface per query.
- Google published the research "Generative UI: LLMs are Effective UI Generators" and launched GenTabs in its Disco experiment (Dec 2025), which builds web apps from open tabs, each item linking back to its source.
- Google also released three standards for the agent web, rolling out from Jan 2026.
In a year, web pages shifted from published pages to computed pages: sites continuously write and test their own variants, and agents access them via a browser API built for them.
