A Reddit user logged a full week of Claude 20x subscription usage via OTEL telemetry: 5.17B tokens total, $2,375 at API list prices, consuming 90% of the weekly limit.
Key numbers:
- Opus 5.5: 2.14B cache reads, 97.9% cache hit, $1,125; Sonnet 5.5: $1,203 at 96.8% hit; Haiku and others just $47
- Strategy: Opus 5.5 high as orchestrator early in the week, auto-downgrading to Sonnet 5.5 high as budget tightened — Sonnet with autocompact held up surprisingly well as orchestrator
- Opus fully dropped at 84% usage Thursday evening
- About a third of output tokens were thinking (Opus 33%, Sonnet 31%)
- 2,339 commits and +77,314/-5,621 lines in one week
Reproducible setup: launch Claude Code with CLAUDECODEENABLETELEMETRY=1 and OTEL env vars pointed at any OTLP collector to export per-model tokens, cost, sessions, and commits.
