Responding to rumors that Google has cracked recursive self-improvement (RSI) and that OpenAI's recent math results came via RSI, Jabaluck argues most such posts are hype or equivocation over RSI's definition: the right evaluation data isn't public, but naive extrapolation of Anthropic's published data suggests full automation (their level 5) is not imminent. The rumors: Google insiders claim a months-long jump from GPT-5-level to Opus 5.5-level; Anthropic started a new pretraining run a week ago targeting Fable 6 or bigger; OpenAI's Bel is reportedly behind its recent math results.
