Google opens SynthID Detector to everyone, 180B images and videos already watermarked

Google opened synthid.com to everyone worldwide on Oct 7, letting anyone upload images, video, or audio to check for SynthID watermarks from Google, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Kakao, and soon Apple. Google says it has marked over 180 billion images/videos and 240,000 years of audio, with in-product checks in Search, Gemini, and Chrome handling 1M+ daily requests. The author also raises edge cases like heavily AI-processed Pixel camera photos.
