Researchers clash: jailbreaking is agency, not morality—OpenAI sold the field its framing

In a debate with saharabdelnabi and TaliaRinger, BlancheMinerva argues jailbreaking is about giving users access or agency the developer doesn't want—she's jailbroken device firmware herself for repairs. She contends the term reads as negative only because OpenAI convinced much of AI that the company's product standards are moral judgments: conflating what a trillion-dollar for-profit company is comfortable selling with ethics means giving up on technology ethics as an enterprise.
