Step 5 Preview tops OpenRouter trending chart, now live in Cline and Kilo Code
kimmonismus · x · 2026-10-10
Step 5 Preview has hit #1 on OpenRouter's New & Trending ranking, which tracks usage rather than model quality.
The author also ran a small single-attempt comparison: on all three tasks the model found the correct scheduling optimum and spotted a misleading aggregate comparison. Step's memory-complexity explanation understated its code's storage needs by omitting stored refund IDs. No speed or cost was measured, so the results don't generalize.
The model is already available in Kilo Code, Cline, Hermes Agent and OpenCode—keep your workflow and switch models. StepFun says more integrations are planned.
