Dev abandons 'residual model' trick meant to stop video-gen color desaturation
pixlpa · x · 2026-10-10
Developer pixlpa shared a post-mortem on a failed experiment: adding a third "residual" model that generates a small amount of extra color data per frame, aiming to reduce long-run degradation into unsaturated noise in video generation. It didn't perform as expected, so the idea is being shelved — though the intermediate output lent an odd Whistler-like painterly quality.
