New Paper 'Inference Auctions' Brings Market Mechanisms to LLM Inference Serving
nhaghtal · x · 2026-10-10
A new paper, Inference Auctions, co-authored with Mike Jordan, proposes an economic layer on top of LLM inference serving platforms: instead of separating resource allocation from systems efficiency, auctions let users express preferences over scarce compute. The work also introduces autobidders that take an inference budget and dynamically adjust bids over time to maximize user utility under the budget constraint.
