YC-backed team builds 8,000 sqft wet-lab in 30 days, AI compounds kill $13B pest

Startup founder navvye, amplified by YC partner Aaron Epstein, says the team built an 8,000 sqft high-throughput wet-lab in 30 days to tackle molecular discovery, starting with pesticides.
- Why pesticides: drug-discovery teams rarely get target-organism verification until clinical trials; pesticides allow direct validation of the model in the target organism.
- Result: compounds generated via the high-throughput lab killed the Fall Armyworm, a pest causing $13 billion in losses.
- Thesis: "the bitter lesson is coming for biology" — scaled AI models will out-compete traditional molecular design.
