Claude Code 2.1.296 is out with 79 CLI changes. Highlights:
- Read tool gains an allowlarge option: ingest a large text file in one call when context allows, instead of chunking
- Managed-settings PreToolUse/prompt hooks hardened: denied tool calls now end the turn, blocking the action
- Security fix: redaction no longer leaks data after empty keys into shared transcripts and debug logs, including shell JSON
