Acemoglu and Josh Gans wrap years-long debate: can AI create as many jobs as it replaces?

Economist Daron Acemoglu shares Josh Gans's response to his seventh (and final) AI question, closing a years-long debate over whether AI will create as many jobs as it replaces.
Gans notes they agree on key points: AI may transform jobs but the process won't be rapid, leaving time to adjust; long-term labour reallocation may hit regions differently (recalling Acemoglu's financial-crisis warnings about government action obstructing necessary reallocation); and if AI can't easily automate jobs, its impact will take a different shape.
