Dev builds an open-source parametric CAD web app with Claude Opus in two weeks
Zoxc32 · reddit · 2026-10-10
A developer spent two weeks building an open-source parametric CAD web app, varde, with Claude Opus 5.5, with a Fusion-inspired user-friendly interface.
The highlight is a novel geometry kernel using rational quadratic triangle patches to enable manifold solids with manifold 3MF export — co-designed by the author and Claude. It currently supports constrained 2D sketches, plus extrude, revolve and combine operations (with some limitations). The author believes proper manifold solids is a promising direction and is seeking feedback on the UI and sketching functions.
