Google Cloud launches App Optimize remote MCP server to query cloud costs from any AI assistant
rseroter · x · 2026-10-10
Google Cloud shipped an App Optimize API remote MCP server that lets AI tools like Gemini CLI, ChatGPT, and Claude answer cloud-cost questions directly: which products cost the most, which idle VMs are expensive, or last week's data-transfer spend.
Key details:
- Enabled automatically when the App Optimize API is turned on
- Runs remotely on Google's infrastructure over an HTTP endpoint, working with standard MCP clients
- Built on the new stateless MCP protocol: self-describing requests routed via headers, no initialize handshake or session IDs
- Produces cost and utilization reports for analysis and integration
A practical entry point for wiring cloud billing into agent workflows.
