Researcher: OpenAI faces zero reputational cost for hyped research, most of it 'nonsense'
ludwigABAP · x · 2026-10-10
Developer ludwigABAP argues that even if public opinion turned against OpenAI's research hype, it wouldn't affect the company at all — calling it a "win-win game" and saying he'd "squeeze this field as a marketing mechanism" in their place.
He rejects the idea that any reputation is at stake: people already believe what they believe, and "many if not most of the work is nonsense" — none of which is relevant to OpenAI.
