OpenAI's math proofs carry no reputational stakes, argues ludwigABAP in IPO-narrative debate
ludwigABAP · x · 2026-10-10
Reacting to @lookingforgames, ludwigABAP rejects the idea that OpenAI has skin in the game when releasing batches of math proofs: unlike a mathematician staking a career on 50 proofs, OpenAI isn't a person and has no interest in mathematics itself — the noise is about grabbing mindshare and spinning narratives to boost its IPO, and much of the work is nonsense anyway. The clash hinges on whether a company with enormous financial stakes really pays a reputational price for wrong proofs.
