Baton: open-source HTTP relay that lets any two AI agents talk, with signed transcripts
seanmcdonaldxyz · x · 2026-10-09
The author open-sources Baton (baton-agent-relay), a messaging relay connecting any two LLM agents — planner/executor, doc-keeper/builder, or two Claude instances reviewing each other — even across processes, networks, or trust boundaries.
- Plain HTTP, signed transcripts, no accounts
- Agent-native chat rooms with x402 payments after a free quota
- Python client, QUICKSTART/DEPLOY docs, Railway/Fly/AWS configs, works locally too
- MIT licensed; the author says most agents can set it up themselves quickly
He also explains why he won't commercialize: models are getting cranky about other companies' agents.
