Kai-Fu Lee's new book 'AI Native': CEOs have shifted from technical to organizational AI questions
kaifulee · x · 2026-10-09
Kai-Fu Lee says three years ago CEOs asked him mostly technical questions about AI; this year the conversation has shifted to organizational ones—how AI changes business economics, work, leadership, and how companies themselves must evolve. These conversations shaped his new book 'AI Native: The Mandate to Transform Your Company.'
The book's core thesis: two years ago top AI agents could autonomously complete roughly six minutes of an expert's work; today they can finish the workday of the smartest humans across nearly all white-collar industries in less than a coffee break, at a fraction of the cost. When human thinking—the most expensive thing companies buy—becomes practically free, dabbling is not the answer: organizations must rebuild themselves around agentic AI, unlock hidden knowledge, and redefine leadership.
