Cloudflare Acquires Deno Team to Simplify Self-Hosting Workers and Durable Objects

Cloudflare announced the Deno team is joining the company, merging workerd and celld to radically simplify self-hosting of Workers and Durable Objects. Ryan Dahl (Node.js creator) and Kenton Varda explain the goal: let developers use the same primitives in more places and make workerd a core primitive for what comes next, with the hard problems being distributed computation, state coordination, storage, and autoscaling.
