Node.js Creator Ryan Dahl's Deno Team Is Joining Cloudflare, Merging with workerd

Deno's team is joining Cloudflare, and the workerd and celld projects are being merged. In a joint blog post, Ryan Dahl and Kenton Varda explain the mission: radically simplify self-hosting of Workers and Durable Objects so developers can use the same primitives in more places, and advance workerd as a core primitive for what comes next. Dahl frames Deno as a search for abstractions that remove capabilities while giving engineers more power, with the hard problems lying in networked apps: distributed computation, state coordination, storage, and autoscaling. The fate of the Deno runtime itself is detailed on the Deno blog.
