Simon Willison built a blog feature entirely by voice using Codex voice mode

Simon Willison describes building a new Newsletters feature for his Django blog almost entirely by voice, using ChatGPT desktop's Codex voice mode (GPT-6 Astra High) while cooking dinner. In 30 minutes of voice chat he specified a new model, migrations, views, templates and four data imports (RSS, Substack's undocumented API, and public/private GitHub repos), plus archive and search integration. He finished via a GitHub PR review with 30 more minutes of typed tweaks. Verdict: voice coding shines for multitasking, but typing still wins for pasting examples and pointing at exact code.
