AI scientists can compress hypothesis search, but biology won't run at GPU speed
ingliguori · x · 2026-10-09
The most important AI breakthrough may be the AI scientist: systems already generating hypotheses, searching vast scientific spaces, designing molecules, proposing experiments, and analyzing results.
But reality check: molecules still need synthesis, trials still take time, and regulators still require evidence — "biology does not operate at GPU speed." The next frontier is not replacing scientists but dramatically expanding the number of testable hypotheses.
