Meta paper: raising the confidence cutoff only for user value claims improves agent memory
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-10-09
A new Meta paper finds agent memory systems should apply a stricter confidence cutoff specifically to claims about users' values and beliefs. Such claims made up 21.5% of candidate memories but contributed more unsupported saved facts than all other categories combined (77.9% source-backed vs 96.2%). Gating values alone cut unsupported saved facts from 6.2% to 4.0% while keeping 13 points more key facts than a similar-volume global threshold. Key takeaway: what an agent chooses not to store deserves as much design attention as storage and recall; test on your own data since results come from synthetic personas.
